Bombus haematurus Kriechbaumer, 1870

 

 

East Mediterranean species, spreading into Central Europe. Earliest published record in Slovenia from 2007, but the photo at left had been taken even earlier (2004).

Polylectic social species. Nests usually underground in abandoned mouse nests, but also above ground in tree cavities.
