INSTRUCTIONS FOR AUTHORS

Illiesia, the International Journal of Stonefly Research, accepts manuscripts dealing with any aspect of plecopteran research. There are no page or reprint charges for publishing in the Journal, and color figures, large data sets and computerized sequences are acceptable as are traditional forms of data presentation. Please submit your manuscript, preferably in Microsoft Word, as an attachment to an e-mail message. Submit manuscripts to either of the Editors:
ignac.sivec@pms-lj.si
stark@mc.edu

Alternatively, electronic versions of manuscripts on diskette or zip disk may be submitted by post to:

Ignac Sivec, Editor
Illiesia
Slovenian Museum of Natural History
Presernova 20
1000 Ljubljana, Slovenia
Fax: +386 1 241 09 53
E-mail: illiesia@pms-lj.si

A letter of submission should accompany the manuscript and this must indicate the manuscript is not being considered for publication by another journal.

SUBMISSION OF TEXT
The manuscript should be single spaced in Times New Roman font (excluding special characters). Most manuscripts should include a Title, an Abstract, an Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion and Literature Cited sections, but a more relaxed format without these designated sections is acceptable for some taxonomic studies and biotic surveys. Papers should be headed by a title, initials, names and addresses of authors, and up to 5 key words that are not already in the title. Manuscripts should be in English but, when appropriate, an alternate language may be used for a second version of the abstract. A list of abbreviations including museum and state or provincial codes should be included in the text of the paper.

The establishment of new taxa must be consistent with requirements of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature including citation of type specimens and institutional deposition when appropriate. Questions regarding format should be referred to the Editors. Please compare the format in a recent issue for examples.

SUBMISSION OF FIGURES
Figures should be submitted in separate files. Graphs should be in PNG, GIF or TIFF files, but photographs and micrographs should be submitted as JPEG or TIFF files. Number figures consecutively in Arabic numerals.

SUBMISSION OF TABLES
Tables should be submitted in separate files using either Microsoft Excel or OpenOffice Calc. The latter application may be downloaded at no cost from www.openoffice.org. It runs on Windows, Mac and other major systems. Number tables consecutively in Arabic numerals.

CITATION FORMAT
Literature citations in the manuscript should be in parentheses, and given as author name(s) and year of publication, e.g. (Illies 1966; Ross & Ricker 1971; Sivec et al. 1988).

References should appear in alphabetical order in the Literature Cited section and should follow the general style of these examples:
