The shore bugs (Saldidae) live at water edge, while ghost bugs (Leptopodidae) live on and between rocks in river beds or in dry habitats, even under tree bark. All are predators and scavangers.

Obrežnice (Saldidae) živijo ob robu vode, trnonožke (Leptopodidae) pa na in med kamenjem v rečnih strugah ali v suhih življenjskih prostorih, celo pod drevesno skorjo. Vse vrste so plenilci in mrhovinarji.

Not found since the 19th century. The Soča river near Gorica, where it lived, had been turned into a series of water accumulations for hydroelectric power plants.
