Hoplitis mazzuccoi (Schwarz & Gusenleitner, 2005)

 

 

East Mediterranean species. In Slovenia only on Mt. Kavčič above Rakitovec at the Karst edge in Istria (sub-Mediterranean region).

I observed males patrolling the flowers of Lotus corniculatus (Fabaceae). Nests in dry Rubus stems (pers. obs.) and probably also in burrows in wood, where specimens rest. Sand is possibly used for the nest plug (not confirmed yet).

Univoltine. Flies from May to July.
